Your conservation district is a governmental subdivision of the state on a county level responsible for carrying out a comprehensive program to protect our soil, water, and other natural resources. They work closely with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). County conservation districts are part of the Kentucky Division of Conservation, Kentucky Department for Natural Resources, Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet.
The Kentucky Division of Conservation assists conservation districts to develop and implement sound soil and water conservation programs. The division also ensures availability of technical and financial assistance to the landowners and land users of Kentucky.
Linda Hunter, Field Representative
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service programs help people reduce soil erosion, enhance water supplies, improve water quality, increase wildlife habitat, and reduce damages caused by floods and other natural disasters. Public benefits include enhanced natural resources that help sustain agricultural productivity and environmental quality while supporting continued economic development, recreation, and scenic beauty.
